Colleagues,
Last Thursday, on the 3rd of February, our Union made a joint inspection with the Labour Inspectorate at Teleperformance, after complaints of colleagues about dismissals and reduction of working hours and wages. During the inspection it was found that
- there were no daily break programmes for those who work 4hours/day on p/c screens (15′ every two hours)
- there are employees that have been working in the company for years , with fixed term contracts, through outsourcing companies
- a number of employees have been subjected to a reduction of working hours and respectively to a reduction of salary.
Teleperformance has been asked to inform the Labour Inspectorate and the Union on the number of these employees within five days.
This intervention is a message that the workers of Teleperformance are not alone in their struggle against this situation. It is also an answer to the company, who with security bars and security guards try to forbid of the Union entering the building.
In the war that has been declared against us by the government, the capitalists and the Troika, with layoffs, unemployment, inflation and the privatisation of hospitals and public transport, their aim is to lower the cost of our labour power. The laws and organisations, the struggles and interventions that give courage to the labourers are being victimised by the media while the government and courts are criminalising them as they are big obstacles to the capitalists. Their ultimate goal is the elimination of our rights. Today, though, it is not enough just to lodge complaints, we cannot stand by as idle observers of the situation while our wages are being cut down and our rights taken away. We need to organise our struggle, we have to raise a front against the massive number of dismissals, we must keep our Union informed of the developments in our workplace and of the problems that may arise, even at home or in our neighbourhood, as a result of these developments, so that together, we can fight back and change this discouraging reality. We, united, have a weapon they can not take away from us; we have the right of the working class.
We are the producers of the wealth of the multinational corporations who throw us the crumbs off their table, and now, even that to them seems to much. We have the weapon of our solidarity, our class unity and of our common struggle; we have our Union, SETIP and PAME.
Against their laws that protect the profits of the multinational corporations we act out the slogan Law is the right of the worker
we demand:
- The prohibition of dissmissals
- Immediate protective measures for the unemployed
- No salary reductions
- Permanent and stable work for all
