Colleagues,

Amidst the very difficult situation we all are experiencing from the Coronavirus pandemic, with major shortcomings in the Public Health System and a host of difficulties for our families, the Management of Scientific Games took swift action to highlight the present and the future of the infamous “Great Place to Work”.

Following initial reassurances that everything was going well, a series of e-mails were sent out last week outlining various financial measures; stating in an elaborate way the intentions of the group’s shareholders. The “emotional sacrifices” by the shareholders of “fat salaries”, wanting to act as examples to follow, are at the very least, provocative. Unfortunately, the approach “when we win, it’s because of the management; when we lose, it’s time to share the load” that emerged through the years of the crisis is becoming more than relevant today.

In previous years, we were over-fed with “thank you” e-mails for our efforts in our projects, and “success story” e-mails with numbers about how healthy and growing the Group is each year. Those who have been reaping the immense profits from our work, are the same people that mention “reduced budgets” when it comes to increases in our salaries. It is the same people who have recently upgraded the already unacceptable appraisal scheme, by introducing additional quarterly evaluations (OKRs), with the clear aim of further intensifying the work and making the coveted “meet the objective” even more vague and daunting. This means fewer salary increases and even fewer promotions. It is the same people who are happy with the working from home status, without it affecting our productivity in the slightest. All of them now, on the pretext of the impending turnover at Betting / Casino, are announcing measures, assessing our reactions and essentially calling upon us, once again, to do the heavy-lifting.

Since last Friday, financial measures are being announced every day, throughout the Group including SG Digital. Dozens of layoffs have already been made in various departments in Greece, the UK and throughout the Group. Departments are forced to enter a “work in shifts” status (essentially work and get paid at a 50% rate), wage cuts and furloughs are being made, furloughs, and impending salary increases have been suspended. The measures seem to have no end, since new data emerge daily and the list continues to grow.

Colleagues, we must turn our backs on them and denounce this unacceptable position of the Management. We do not accept any transfer of any costs on us, we do not accept (once again) to share their loss.

NO TRANSFER OF COSTS TO THE EMPLOYEES

RECALL ALL LAYOFFS

NO ADDITIONAL LAYOFFS OR WORKING IN SHIFTS

NO SALARY REDUCTIONS AND TERMS OF WORK

WE CLAIM SALARY INCREASES THAT MEET OUR NEEDS

In this situation, no one is alone. SETIP, the branch of the Telecommunications and Informatics Association, supports the employees of the whole sector. We are organizing en masse in our Union and together we are fighting against any attack by the employer, and even more so to support the urgent need of signing a Sectoral Collective Agreement that will ensure the rights of all of us!

We organize our opposition to the Branch employers, which take advantage of all the unpopular laws put forward by the present and previous governments, are overstepping the rights of employees across many companies, and do not adhere to security measures, attacking our rights.

We get in touch with our Union on any issue, we stay in touch and vigilant in these difficult times
